A marketing specialist once remarked that at Qualifirst we face challenges usually encountered by companies more than ten times our size.
One of these has to do with the number of products and brands that we sell.
Another comes from our national presence: managing two offices, two warehouses, and a sales team spread out across the country.
Added to this is that our businesses processes are fairly unique, which means we can’t simply parachute someone into a senior role; every employee at every level and in every role, must be a perfect fit, and must want to grow as the company grows.
Growing while our strategy develops:
In July we had our best sales month ever, and we know we are poised for enormous growth.
We should congratulate ourselves. As a team we have been able to continue growing even during this period while our strategy develops. We now have the IT roadmap in place and we have started the implementation.
We also have a much clearer vision of what is needed to bring new leaders on board.
For instance, every leader needs to start as a trainee.
Therefore we are putting in place a serious training process in the warehouse, as well as in various office jobs and sales roles.
We learned from Brett Henyon’s training that we need a proper job definition for each position, and also that freedom from management control needs to be earned as new knowledge is gained through successfully completed tasks.
Growth, and growing pains are both part of the life of a thriving company. Progress is not guaranteed to be simple or painless, which is why the achievements we have made this year, and over the past few years are something to be extremely proud of.
